The frame sets the schedule for everything that follows it. We fabricate structural steel in our own shop, to approved shop drawings, and deliver it in the order your crane needs it.
Fabrication that is actually ours
Struc Steel is a fabricator, not a broker. Your columns, beams, girders, base plates, gussets, stiffeners and embeds are cut, drilled, coped, fit and welded in our Spring Valley facility by people we employ. That matters on two fronts. Quality is controlled by us rather than negotiated with a third party, and schedule is something we can actually influence when a project moves.
It also means that when a question comes up during erection, the answer comes from the same building that made the piece. Contractors who have chased a fabrication problem through a broker to an out of state shop understand why that is worth something.
Systems we fabricate
Southern California structures carry seismic demands that drive frame selection, and each system carries different fabrication consequences. Special moment frames require careful attention to the connection region and to welding procedure and inspection. Braced frames concentrate large forces into gusset plates and their attachments. Ordinary framing still has to fit within tolerances that let deck, curtain wall and mechanical systems land where they were drawn.
We fabricate moment frame assemblies, concentrically and eccentrically braced frames, gravity framing, roof and floor systems, transfer girders, canopy and trellis structures, and the connections that tie them all together.
Sequenced delivery, not a pile of steel
Steel delivered out of order costs erection hours that never appear in anyone's estimate. Pieces are marked according to the erection drawings and loaded so that the first thing off the truck is the first thing the crane picks. On tight urban sites we plan around street permits, delivery windows, lane closures and adjacent trades before the first load leaves the shop.

About structural steel fabrication
Do you fabricate steel that someone else will erect?
Yes. We prefer a combined scope because it removes the coordination seam, but plenty of projects are already structured with a separate erector and we fabricate for them regularly.
Can you work from an engineer's design without a detailer?
Yes. We produce or coordinate the shop and erection drawings as part of our scope. See our steel detailing and design assist page for how that works.
What is a typical fabrication lead time?
For most commercial packages, three to six weeks after shop drawing approval, depending on tonnage, connection complexity and mill availability on any long lead sections. We identify long lead items at award rather than discovering them mid fabrication.
