When the same company fabricates and erects, a whole category of problem disappears. There is no debate about whether a piece was made wrong or set wrong, no waiting while two subcontractors negotiate who pays for the fix, and no gap in the schedule while that conversation happens.

Our erection crews work from the same erection drawings our shop marked the steel to, and they can call the shop directly when a field condition needs attention. Most issues that would become a change order somewhere else get resolved the same day here.

Planning before the pick

Every erection sequence starts on paper. We review crane placement and reach, ground bearing conditions, access routes, delivery windows, overhead utilities, adjacent structures and the order in which the frame becomes stable. Rigging plans are documented and lifts are planned rather than improvised.

On urban San Diego sites this planning is the difference between a smooth week and a permit violation. Street closures, pedestrian protection, hours of operation and neighbor coordination all get worked out before the crane shows up.

Occupied and phased sites

A great deal of Southern California steel work happens on buildings that are still operating. Shopping centers that cannot close, schools in session, hospitals, hotels and parks all require phasing, protected access, off hours work and containment. Our crews do this routinely, including night and weekend erection when that is what the building requires.
