Quality is decided at fit up and safety is decided at the morning briefing. Neither can be added later, so both are built into how our shop and our field crews operate every day.
Quality assurance in the shop
Our quality process starts with material. Incoming steel is checked against mill test reports and against the specified grade before it is released to fabrication. Substitutions are not made without written approval from the engineer of record.
Fabrication follows the approved shop drawings, with dimensional verification at fit up and before final welding. Welds are made by welders qualified to written procedure specifications appropriate to the joint, position and material. Visual inspection is performed as work progresses, and we coordinate nondestructive testing where the specification or the building department requires it.
Finished pieces are marked according to the erection drawings and staged in the sequence the field will need them, which reduces the handling, hunting and rework that quietly consume erection hours.
Quality assurance in the field
Erection follows a documented sequence with plumbing and alignment verified as the frame goes up rather than at the end. Bolted connections are installed and tightened to the specified condition, with pretensioned joints verified where required. Field welds follow the same procedure and qualification requirements as shop welds.
We coordinate directly with the special inspector so that inspection happens when the work is accessible instead of after the deck is placed. Deficiencies are corrected promptly and documented.
Documentation you receive
Closeout should not be an archaeology project. We assemble the record as the work happens, so what you receive at the end reflects what actually occurred on the job.

Working in occupied buildings
Retrofit and tenant improvement work often happens above people who are trying to run a business. We plan containment, dust and spark control, noise windows, protected access routes and phased shutdowns with the building operator before mobilizing.
